About Classic Solitaire

Classic Solitaire, also called Klondike, is a game of uncovering cards and putting them in order. A useful move can reveal a hidden card or make room for the next one.

Play Draw 1 or Draw 3 on Lolo. Hints, undo, and a guided practice deal are available when you need a hand.

Your goal

Move all 52 cards to the four foundations: the card piles above the seven columns. Each foundation starts empty. Add an ace, then cards of the same suit in order: 2–10, jack, queen, king. Complete all four foundations to win.

Before
After
Add the 3 of hearts to the heart foundation. It covers the 2; the ace stays underneath.

Only a single, uncovered face-up card can move to a foundation.

Build the columns

The seven columns of overlapping cards are called the tableau. Hearts and diamonds are red; clubs and spades are black. Place a card on one of the opposite color that is one step higher: a red 6 goes on a black 7.

One column: red 6 on black 7, then black 5 on red 6.

You can move an entire face-up sequence together. To move this whole 7–6–5 sequence, place its 7 on a red 8.

Uncover a face-down card and it flips automatically. Only a king, alone or leading a sequence, can fill an empty column.

Draw 1 and Draw 3

The face-down deck in the upper-right is the stock. Tap or click it to draw cards into the face-up waste pile beside it.

  • Draw 1: turn over one card at a time.
  • Draw 3: turn over up to three cards at a time.

Both are standard ways to play; there is no “right” choice. Draw 1 is easier to learn, while Draw 3 adds a challenge by limiting which cards you can reach. Choose whichever you prefer when you start a new game.

Only the top waste card can move to a column or foundation. Playing it exposes the next card underneath.

When the stock runs out, tap its empty space to turn the waste back over. You can do this as often as you like; the cards keep their order.

Tips

  • Favor moves that uncover face-down cards.
  • Clear a column when you have a king ready to fill it.
  • You may move a foundation’s top card back to a column if it fits. This can help you rearrange cards.
